The new CS:GO update promises a fix for the spawn problem in competitive mode in addition to minor changes. We show you the cheeky exploit!

Those who like to play Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in the competitive mode (matchmaking) might have had exactly this curious encounter recently:

You start the first round of the match and after a few seconds you meet an opponent who was able to take up much more space than should actually be possible.

Something can’t be right!

And indeed. This is a spawn bug that has recently been exploited in many matchmaking games.

Here are two examples of the spawn bug:

The spawn bug has been encountered by our CS:GO expert Kai himself on the map de_mirage. At the beginning of the round, an opposing player disconnected from the server and then re-entered the game shortly before the end of the buy phase. The only difference was that this one did not appear on the usual spawn point, but in the middle of the map.

The opponent repeated this process every round. Despite a match victory against the evil scam, the game was subsequently not rated and the cheating player received a perma-ban.

According to the current patch, a fix for this spawn bug has been implemented.
