An update for the game servers is intended to prevent players from continuing to farm XP in Portal mode. But this also punishes fair players.

Currently, many battles in Battlefield 2042 do not take place on the virtual battlefields, but rather on the technical level. The game still has all kinds of bugs and other afflictions that rob many of the fun and ensure that the multiplayer shooter from DICE is punished in the (User ratings on Metacritic).

Just a few days after the release, the developers have addressed a problem that has so far allowed players to farm lots of XP in the easiest way to climb up the ranks faster and get better equipment.

XP gain temporarily disabled in portal mode

The procedure is simple, but efficient: The portal mode of Battlefield 2042 allows you to create matches according to your own rules. Many players apparently took advantage of this possibility and created games in which the bots are only equipped with a few HP and simple knives in order to be able to shoot them quickly and without resistance from a distance. In return, they earned a lot of XP in a short time.

One problem: If you are looking for a match and don’t pay close attention, you may end up on one of these XP farming servers. If you’re unlucky, you’ll suddenly find yourself with only a knife and be cannon fodder for the others, which is of course frustrating.

Therefore DICE has now reacted and temporarily suspended the XP gain in Portal completely. The experience gain has also been reduced for the All-Out Warfare mode when you play solo or in co-op. Normal multiplayer matches of All-Out-Warfare are not affected by this.

Nevertheless, this procedure is earning criticism from players: Many feel they are being treated unfairly. The tenor: Just because a few players use the portal mode in an undesirable way, all players, even the fair ones, must now suffer from these measures. The developers therefore emphasised once again shortly afterwards that these changes are only temporary until a solution has been found on the technical side to better prevent the undesired XP farming in Portal.

How do you feel about the current measures in Portal and All-Out Warfare mode? Do you feel it limits your options, or do you support DICE’s efforts to stop XP farming? Write us your opinion in the comments
