On June 4, 2020 Sony wanted to present the first PS5 games. However, due to the current situation in the USA, this event has now been postponed indefinitely.

Only a few weeks ago, Sony was looking forward to the first official PS5 event. But now Sony announced that the event has been postponed to an unknown time.

“We have decided to postpone the Playstation 5 event until June 4, 2020. We know that players around the world have been looking forward to seeing PS5 games. But we don’t think that now is the right time to celebrate. We’d like to take a step back to allow more important voices to be heard,” the Playstation Channel twittered on the evening of 1 June 2020.

Sony is showing solidarity with the current situation in the USA.

Xbox’s Twitter page retweeted another solidarity tweet from PlayStation saying “We stand together ??”, also sending a signal.

Even before Sony, publishers such as EA Sports announced that they would put their events on hold for the time being.

Another example of solidarity from the gaming industry comes from Call of Duty.

The new seasons of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Warzone and Call of Duty: Mobile have also been postponed. “Now is not the time,” they say on their Twitter channel.

On May 25, 2020, African-American George Floyd died in a disproportionately violent arrest. Since then, there have been more and more demonstrations under the motto “Black Lives Matter”, especially in the USA.
