The former Heroic coach brings to light new information regarding the coaching scandal.

In September 2020, former Heroic coach, Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen, was banned by the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) for exploiting a bug in the game during DreamHack Masters Spring 2020. This bug allowed the user to see certain strategic locations on the map. This information would not have been known to the coach and his team without the bug. Because of his help with the investigation, HUNDEN’s ban was reduced from the original twelve months to eight months.

In an earlier statement, HUNDEN made it clear that he acted solely on his own and took full responsibility. On Thursday, he again commented on the situation in an interview with the Danish TV network TV2.dk. In doing so, HUNDEN presented some parts of his original statement differently. The Dane claimed that the situation had been known to some players and that they actively knew about the use of the bug.

However, HUNDEN did not publish exactly which players were involved. The coach, from whom Heroic parted ways in July, thus leaves the decision with the affected players to come forward themselves.

It remains to be seen whether the ESIC will reopen the investigation. For this to happen, however, one of the players concerned would have to speak out. It is not yet known whether HUNDEN’s cooperation could have an effect on his future as coach.
