The Wild West is getting wild again
While the world waits for GTA 6, Rockstar Games is unleashing a storm of horror in the background. Of all things, Red Dead Online, which many fans had already written off after four years of silence, is back—and with a dark surprise.
The new update, “Strange Tales of the West,” appeared without warning. No trailer, no big PR fireworks. And yet that’s exactly why it’s the talk of the town. The name says it all: In four new missions, you’ll roam remote swamps, abandoned forests, and sinister towns – always in the shadow of the supernatural.
Also featured is renowned author Theodore Levin, who serves as your employer and sends you on bizarre adventures that sound like creepy Westerns . A small homage to “Undead Nightmare,” the legendary zombie expansion for Red Dead Redemption, is clearly noticeable.
Zombies, robots, and a big reward: Here’s what’s in the RDO update
In the mission “Strange Tales of the Plague,” the undead return—moldy, merciless, and in droves. Anyone who thought the zombie theme was over didn’t count on Rockstar’s flair for atmosphere. In the “Modern Science” chapter, cowboy boots meet steel as ruthless machines chase you across the prairie.
But the swamp also has its dangers: in “Tales of the Bayou,” a new form of horror lurks, while in “Wilderness,” nature itself becomes the enemy.
In addition to the story, the developers are also offering a suitable incentive: Until August 4, you can earn triple RDO dollars, gold, and experience. The best part? The entire update is free – a real gift for loyal gunslingers.
Despite all the GTA 6 hype, Rockstar proves that the Wild West is still alive and kicking – and kicking pretty well at that.
