A new update has been announced for Minecraft that will allow you to convert Ghasts into comfortable flying taxis, and the community loves it.

Even almost 14 years after its release, Minecraft continues to be regularly updated with new content, and there is no end in sight yet. Now, via the blog of the developer Mojang the contents for the second major update of the year have been announced.

The most interesting new feature will be a friendly ghast that not only spares you, but can also serve as a comfortable flying taxi. While it is not yet known when the update will be released, the community is already over the moon.

Flying instead of flames

With the update, a new type of block occasionally appears in the Nether: the Dried Ghast. If you take it to the overworld and rehydrate it, you will get the new Ghastling. After some time, it will grow into a Happy Ghast – the friendly version of the flame-spitting Ghast you have already come to know and fear.

Up in the air: If you now put the Happy Ghast on reins, it transforms into a good-humored flying taxi and can transport you and up to three companions across the overworld. The update is scheduled to be released sometime in 2025, but you shouldn’t expect it before summer.

Not only the ghast is happy

On Reddit, the Minecraft community is mostly enthusiastic. There is already speculation about how the new mobs can be summoned. After all, it has not yet been mentioned whether the ghasts will follow you at every turn.

Reddit user EnokiYukigaya and user Resto_Bot suggest a combination of a goat’s horn and a Ghast tear to imitate the sound of the creatures. The user Gabz_sheldreak could then imagine a radius of 100 blocks in which all Happy Ghasts are summoned when the item is used.

Ghast Evolution Line! [OC]

Sleepyzen also posted an image on Reddit in which she drew the evolutionary lines of the Dried Ghast. The inspiration comes from the classic Pokémon evolutions, which is why the mobs have also been given types.

While the evolution series from Dried Ghast to Happy Ghast is recommended by water and love, Sleepyzen charmingly discourages the transformation to a normal Ghast.

Der Reddit user JoeFly2009 is hoping that a future update will also allow him to ride a whale, not in the overworld, but in the end.

Other people support the idea, although it is criticized that it will theoretically already be possible with the Happy Ghast update to simply convert the Dried Ghast in the End instead of the Overworld and then travel through the rough terrain with it.
