With WWE 2K26, 2K is fundamentally changing its post-launch model. Classic DLC packages are being discontinued, and instead the publisher is introducing a permanent battle pass called “Ringside Pass.” At the same time, the version for the new Switch generation will receive additional input options such as mouse and touchscreen support in Creation mode.
The release is scheduled for March 13, but buyers of certain special editions can start a week earlier.
Ringside Pass replaces classic DLCs
The Ringside Pass offers a free and a paid reward tier.
The free version unlocks 60 items, while the premium tier adds another 40 items per season.
Several of these passes are set to be released over the game’s lifecycle. Unlike many other battle pass systems, older seasons do not expire. This means that content can still be earned at a later date.
Rewards include playable superstars, cosmetic customizations, in-game currency, content for MyFaction, and additional items for the social hub “The Island.”
CM Punk as cover star and showcase focus
The title hero of this year’s spin-off is CM Punk. This year’s Showcase mode is also dedicated to him, recreating key moments in his career.
Over 400 playable wrestlers are expected to be included at launch.
Four editions with varying content
In addition to the standard version, three larger packages will be released:
- King of Kings Edition
Early access, first Premium Pass season, additional VC, and playable versions of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.
- Attitude Era Edition
Includes multiple Premium Pass seasons, numerous legends from the late 1990s, as well as arenas and emotes from that era.
- Monday Night Wars Edition
Includes content from the WCW era, additional arenas, and several later Premium Pass seasons.
All three special editions grant access on March 6.
New and returning match types
New is the “Three Stages of Hell” match, a best-of-three with changing rules per round.
Also new is the Dumpster Match, in which the opponent must be thrown into a dumpster and locked inside.
Returning are I Quit mode and the Inferno Match with a burning ring apron.
Enhancements for Switch players
The Switch version will feature platform-specific features:
- Mouse and touchscreen input in Creation Mode
- Support for individual Joy-Cons
- GameShare and GameChat
- Access to “The Island,” which was previously only available on more powerful consoles
This allows you to model created wrestlers directly with your finger or mouse instead of exclusively with a controller.
Revised modes and new weapons
Universe mode and MyGM get new draft mechanics, additional promos, and expanded cash-in options for Money in the Bank.
New weapons include thumbtacks, shopping carts, and stackable tables.
