CD Projekt RED has announced that active development of the card game Gwent will be discontinued. Originally, Gwent was a popular mini-game within the role-playing game The Witcher III: Wild Hunt Due to its popularity, the Polish developer studio decided to launch a standalone version of the card game about five years ago. In the meantime, Gwent has been constantly expanded and improved through countless updates and patches, and now the final update is released.

With the release of the last major update for Gwent, the active development of the game is now completed. The focus of this update is to increase the involvement of the Gwent community. (CD Project RED) plans to make possible adjustments and balancing measures for the maps in the future, but only if this depends on the wishes of the Gwent players. For this purpose, a so-called balancing council will be set up to serve as a link between the community and the developers. This council will discuss the desired changes and, if necessary, put them into practice. CD Projekt RED is thus counting on the direct participation and feedback of Gwent players to shape the future of the card game even after the latest update.
