We only got a brief teaser at yesterday Opening Night Live of GamesCom 2022  Wyrdsong will be the first game from former Bethesda and Obsidian developers who find themselves together in the newly formed Something Wicked Games studio.

In terms of atmosphere, we can expect a dark role-playing game in a completely new, fantasy medieval world. But there seems to be much more behind it. Cosmic powers and a lot of supernatural and almost creepy things are also hinted at in the short trailer. Of course, we don’t know anything concrete about the story, gameplay or even the release date yet. Only that it will tell analternative medieval story and you will have to deal with an unreliable narrator character. Currently, studio founders Jeff Gardiner and Charlie Staples are looking for a publisher as well as other developers to join the team to work on Wyrdsong.

With Gardiner and Staples having worked on such role-playing smashes as Fallout and Skyrim and Dragon Age , one can be very curious about the direction Wyrdsong will take and how it will stand out from other similar titles. However, Wyrdsong certainly seems to have a lot of advance credit with fans and the press.

It will probably be a long time before we get to see the first gameplay material from Wyrdsong, and of course the gameplay and narrative direction can still change a lot. Nevertheless, Wyrdsong looks to be an exciting new, original IP that we will hopefully be hearing a lot more about and soonl in the future.
