Space Marines! Chaos gods! Big guys with big guns! A ton of new stuff has just been revealed for Warhammer.

What a glorious day for Warhammer fans and the Empire! At the big Warhammer Skulls Show on May 22, 2025, a bunch of announcements were made, all revolving around video games set in this brutal universe.

And there are a lot of them, since it feels like at least one new video game based on Warhammer 40k or, more rarely, Warhammer Fantasy is released every year. This also means that quite a few of these games are supported at the same time.

So it’s no surprise that a show like Warhammer Skulls could be so packed. In this article, we’ll give you a quick summary of all the announcements from the show.

New game announcements

First, we’ll take a look at all the completely new games and reissues of old classics. Both were on display at the show.

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy

The role-playing pros at Owlcat Games have unveiled their second classic role-playing game set in the Warhammer universe. The game is the sequel to the highly acclaimed Rogue Trader, only this time we are an Inquisitor of the Imperium hunting down heretics, heretics, and other villains. Want to find out more?

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2

2023 saw the release of Boltgun, a wonderfully absurd retro shooter that lets you relive the heyday of games like Doom and Wolfenstein, while of course being set in the dark future of Warhammer 40k. The second part is in the works and promises even more straightforward action.

By the way, a free version of Boltgun called Words of Vengenance is now available on Steam, in which you crush your opponents by typing words.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition

Genre: Real-time strategy – Developer: Relic Entertainment – Release: 2025

One of the best real-time strategy games of all time is back! Dawn of War is rightly considered a mature classic, offering both a thrilling campaign and wonderfully action-packed skirmishes.

The Definitive Edition includes all expansions and future-proofs the game with 4K support, higher resolution textures, and new lighting and shadow effects. Find out more in our announcement news.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition

Genre: Third-person shooter – Developer: SneakyBox – Release: June 10, 2025

In 2024, Space Marine 2 was one of the biggest action hits of the year, attracting many new fans who joyfully swept through hordes of Tyranids with their overpowered space warriors. Now, a graphical reissue of its predecessor is coming soon, allowing these new fans to catch up on the bloody story in its entirety. We have more information for you in a news article.

New updates and DLCs

This is about currently active games that will continue to receive new content and updates. There are quite a few of these in circulation at the moment, including some really good games like Space Marine 2 and Total War: Warhammer 3:

  • Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2: The action game will receive a new Siege mode on June 26, which will be available in the game for free. Here you can face endless waves of Tyranids. The patch also brings new cosmetic DLCs to the game.

  • Warhammer 40k: Darktide: Starting June 23, you can purchase your first paid DLC for the shooter, which adds a new class to the game: the Arbites class. At the same time, a free update will be released that revamps the difficulty levels and the introduction to the game.

  • Warhammer: Vermintide 2: The final mission of the Verminous Dreams campaign is now available in the game – and of course, this also applies if you’ve recently started playing this co-op smash hit on Game Pass.

  • Total War: Warhammer 3: The strategy game has unveiled its next DLC. It will once again be a pack featuring legendary leaders and is called Tides of Torment. One of these leaders fights for the Chaos God Slaanesh.

  • Warhammer 40k: Battlesector: The turn-based strategy game is getting its first DLC, which promises new story content. The DLC is available now and revolves around a battle between the Sisters of Battle and the Orks. On top of that, there is a new Crusader mode and new units available for free for everyone.

  • Warhammer 40k: Gladius – Relic of War: The 4X strategy game is also being expanded with a new DLC that adds new units for many factions.

  • Blood Bowl 3: The absurd fantasy football game has released a trailer for the next season, which starts on June 10 and introduces Khorne as a new team. Blood Bowl for the Blood God!

Mobile games and odds and ends

Finally, we’ll quickly summarize any odds and ends happening in the world of Warhammer. That means crossovers, small add-ons, and mobile games:

  • Talisman Digital 5th Edition: The card game is getting a new co-op DLC.
  • Warhammer 40k: Tacticus: A new faction has been revealed for the mobile game: Custodes.
  • Warhammer 40k: Warpforge: The Emperor’s Children are a new faction for the card game.
  • Supremacy: Warhammer 40k: This will be a brand new mobile game, for which registrations are now open.
  • Warhammer Combat Cards – Daemon Primarch: Angron will be a new Supreme Commander for the card game.
  • Counter-Strike 2: You can buy new Warhammer stickers for the first-person shooter on Steam.
  • Rust: The popular survival game is entering into a collaboration with Warhammer, but it’s not yet clear what that means exactly.

That’s all the Warhammer news for now! Things are definitely looking rosy, or rather bloody, for fans of 40k or fantasy. The popular brand remains strongly represented in the video game sector. The Warhammer Festival runs until May 29, during which time there are also lots of discounts on Steam, so be sure to check it out.
