Payday 3 at a crossroads: can the combined content in the new trailer lure back the lost community? The trailer show.

Let’s not kid ourselves: Payday 3 is in a bad way. With a new trailer, the developers are once again courting fans and potential buyers. However, it remains questionable whether this will be enough to boost the vanishingly low user numbers. Also included: the impressive-looking new extraction shooter Arc Raiders from former Battlefield developers and the cute space survival game Astroneer with the first real add-on. Enjoy the trailers of the week!

3rd Place: Payday 3

It’s been over a year since Payday 3 tried to take over from its popular predecessor. However, it didn’t really succeed. On Steam, there are currently fewer than 1,000 concurrent players, while Payday 2 continues to attract over 20,000 live users.

Why the trailer is relevant: The developers at Starbreeze Studios are promoting the Year 1 Edition of Payday 3, which combines all the content released so far. The community’s hope for a second chance apparently remains unfulfilled. A noticeable increase in the player numbers on Steam is not revealed by the Year 1 Edition.

Astroneer is one of the big indie favorites on Steam, with over 100,000 satisfied players rating the cuddly space survival game 92 percent positive.

Why the trailer is relevant: Eight years after its release, the developers are now releasing the first truly extensive DLC. You can take a closer look at the Glitchwalkers add-on in the trailer. Since its release, the live user numbers on Steam have skyrocketed to their highest level in years – over 15,000 simultaneously active players are enjoying the honor.

1st Place: Arc Raiders

The extraction trend in the shooter genre shows no signs of slowing down or abating. With Arc Raiders, a few notable industry veterans (including ex-Battlefield devs) are now venturing into the gameplay of Hunt: Showdown, Escape from Tarkov and DMZ.

Why the trailer is relevant: Embark Studios was previously responsible for the arena shooter The Finals, which featured a game show with a lead-filled narrative. Arc Raiders takes a completely different approach and lets you take part in risky raids in a post-apocalyptic game world. The material shown raises hopes for a high-quality new game in the genre.

Embark Studios has not yet communicated an exact release date for Arc Raiders, only the year 2025 has been envisaged. A playtest is currently running on Steam, for which you can apply on the game’s store page. As usual, you can find out all the important news about Arc Raiders at GlobalESportNews
