New hope for Titanfall fans: Respawn CEO Vince Zampella revealed in an interview that he would “love” a Titanfall 3.

There are always rumors about a possible Titanfall 3 But after the sales figures of Titanfall 2 massively disappointed and developer Respawn had landed a veritable Battle Royale million hit with Apex Legends, no one at the developers was talking about a possible sequel to the mech-shooter.

Until now: Respawn CEO Vince Zampella recently commented on Titanfall 3 in an interview with tech website (Barron’s) and there is again a small spark of hope for a new part

Respawn would love to develop Titanfall 3

When asked if Titanfall 3 was possible, the studio head was extremely open-minded:

I hate to say yes, and then people jump on it and skewer you when it doesn’t come. But I’d like to see it happen, that’s the honest answer.

However, Zampella clarified in the same vein that Respawn isn’t currently working on anything and there are no specific plans for it. Instead, they apparently want to take the time necessary to get everything right on a potential Titanfall 3:

It has to be the right thing. It’s such a beloved franchise for the fans and for us as well. If it’s not the right time, the right idea, then it just doesn’t make sense.

In addition, the CEO worries that a Titanfall 3 could confuse players from Apex Legends

The question is how to make something that doesn’t confuse people who are Apex fans but not necessarily Titanfall fans. It’s hard to say.

He doesn’t explain what exactly he means by that, though. These concerns do sound a bit odd, though; after all, Apex Legends is set in the Titanfall universe, not the other way around – even if many fans of the Battle Royale might not know that. But as long as Respawn doesn’t market a Titanfall 3 as a successor to Apex Legends, the potential confusion should be contained.

In the end, though, fans of the shooter series can be happy that the topic is still floating around in the developers’ heads and at least have some hope for a sequel again. Even if this will probably be a long, long time coming.
