A new puzzle was recently discovered in Red Dead Redemption 2 that sends players in all directions. But now the community has reached a dead end.
You’d think that seven years after release, all the secrets of a video game would have been uncovered, especially with such an active community as Rockstar’s 2018 western epic Red Dead Redemption 2. But no! Now fans have discovered a new puzzle that sends them across 19th-century America.
What do the spiders know?

What it’s all about: In the middle of the Heartlands, a curious spider symbol was discovered on a telegraph pole. If you place it in the right spot on the map, it will lead you to eight different telegraph poles, all of which are covered with special spider webs. These webs contain large bird feathers that can be shot down.
If you move to the exact center between these poles, you will find a tree with a huge spider web. But don’t worry, there is no monstrous eight-legged creature in it, just the letter N
and a drawing of a pole.
The N
stands for the cardinal direction north. If you go in that direction, you will come across another telephone pole. However, it will only reveal its secret if you feed it some lead. Then a hidden message will appear under the wood, sending you five more poles to the west.
If you follow the instructions and shoot the corresponding pole, the last secret message will appear for now: a guitar symbol and the letters NW
. It is currently assumed that this refers to the north-west direction, as was the case with the other letters. If you go in this direction, you will come across Fort Wallace, where there are indeed a few guitars lying around.
However, nothing else of interest has been found so far, and the scavenger hunt is at a standstill. But since it has only been running for a few days, that doesn’t necessarily mean much. The community will surely solve the mystery soon, or at least be one step closer. In any case, it remains exciting!
Why not just look in the code? The X user Synth Potato writes that the programming codes of Red Dead 2 are relatively difficult to decipher. Tiny details and Easter eggs such as spider webs are almost impossible to find, even with a targeted search. The fact that the ultimate goal or meaning of the scavenger hunt is unknown makes things even more difficult.
