The Misery Island mod expands the wasteland with new areas, settlements, quests, and even a brand-new radio station.
Fallout 4 is already ten years old and should probably start thinking about retirement. After the Anniversary Edition was received with lukewarm enthusiasm by the community, to say the least, fans are once again showing what they’re capable of.
A new expansion developed by modders Tenhats and Shreddah4 now sends you to an island off the coast of New England. New settlements, quests, and lots of other goodies await you on Misery Island.
New territories on the Salem coast
Misery Island (Download via Nexusmods) is based on two real islands and adds a whole new area to your map on the coast near Salem. The island was once a picturesque vacation spot with idyllic hiking trails and beach houses. However, not much of that remains now.
Through exploration, dialogues with NPCs, and holotapes, you will gradually uncover the history of Misery Island, which is designed to integrate seamlessly into the main game.

The mod also includes:
- 2 new settlements
- 20 new locations with hidden sights
- New weapons, armor, clothing, food, and miscellaneous items
- A new radio station
- A new Pip-Boy map
- Game mechanics from older Fallout games, such as skill checks and weapon schematics
- Lore-friendly main and side quests
- A system for restoring the ruins on Misery Island
There are several ways to get to Misery Island. Keep in mind that you must own the Far Harbor DLC to play the mod. If you activated the pre-quest during installation, you will receive a quest notification at level 25, along with a marker that will lead you to the island.
If you are traveling in the Commonwealth, you will find a plane north of Boston Airport that will take you to the island. If you activate “Transport in Far Harbor” when installing the mod, you will find another plane south of Beaver Creek Lanes. Screenshots of the map can be found on the Boon Island, the two creators Tenhats and Shreddah4 already took a trip to the ocean off the east coast last year.
Boon Island tells the true tragic story of an inconspicuous lighthouse between Boston and Far Harbor. Here, too, you can explore a new area and settlement. Overall, this expansion is smaller than Misery Island, but still impressive. Incidentally, it is not necessary to play this mod before you start with Misery Island.
