The strange “Geefarce RTX 5027 POS”: What looks like a GPU is actually a complete gaming PC.

Every day, countless hobbyists build graphics cards into computers. CherryTree has turned the tables and built a complete computer into a GPU.

There are PC designs that fall into categories such as “cool” or ‘creative’ or that simply light up like an overloaded Christmas tree.

And then there’s the “Geefarce 5027 POS” (we didn’t come up with the name), which appeared on the YouTube channel Gamers Nexus a few days ago. It’s supposed to be a graphics card, but it actually contains a complete gaming PC:

The GeeFarce 5027 POS is based on a defective Gigabyte graphics card from the RTX 20 series. The exact model remains unknown. Instead of disposing of this hardware as electronic waste, custom PC company CherryTree seized the opportunity and built a computer out of it that is probably unique in this form and therefore not available for purchase.

  • The company removed the original GPU components and integrated a complete Asus NUC 13 Pro motherboard into the graphics card housing instead.
  • At the heart of the GeeFarce 5027 POS is an Intel Core i7-1360P processor from the Raptor Lake generation with 12 cores and 16 threads, which achieves a maximum boost frequency of 5 GHz.
  • The integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics has 96 execution units (EUs) and clocks at up to 1.5 GHz. CherryTree also equipped the system with 64 GB DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM RAM and a 2 TB MP33 PCIe 3.0 SSD.

While the original heat sink of the graphics card could not be used due to space constraints, the three fans of the Gigabyte cooling system were retained and now provide active cooling for the NUC components. This design allows all connections of the NUC 13 Pro to remain accessible via the I/O panel of the “graphics card.”

For the power supply, CherryTree converted the actual 8-pin PCIe power connector into a hollow plug connector so that the system is powered by an external power supply.

In terms of gaming performance, the GeeFarce 5027 POS shows the limitations of integrated graphics solutions, as expected. Gamers Nexus conducted several extensive tests and achieved an overall score of 19,029 points in 3DMark Night Raid, among other things.

However, a direct comparison with a system with a six-year-old GeForce RTX 2070 Super reveals a clear difference in performance: the dedicated GPU system achieves 492 percent higher graphics performance.

The GeeForce 5027 POS will not end the debate about sufficient gaming hardware, but it is certainly intriguing.
