Let’s be honest: The annual Game Awards have long been more than just a celebration of the best developers and games of the past twelve months. For many of you, the “world premieres” are the real reason to tune in to the stream.

And that’s exactly why the organizers are promising another packed program for 2025. While some surprises will be kept secret until the last second, there is already a solid list of titles that will be featured during the show.

Teasers & rumors

Tomb Raider

It has been quiet for a long time around the most famous archaeologist in video game history, but now it’s certain: Lara Croft’s next big adventure will be unveiled at The Game Awards.

The confirmation came in a rather unusual way: First, clues appeared on December 8 during a “Game Awards” experience in Fortnite, and shortly thereafter, host Geoff Keighley officially confirmed the news.

Exactly what will be shown – whether it’s just a cinematic trailer or the first gameplay footage – remains to be seen. What is certain, however, is that Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Games will use the stage to showcase the future of the brand in some form.

New Total War

With Medieval 3, the Total War series will soon return to its historical medieval roots – but there’s more to come! That’s because another new Total War game is set to be released before then. And that’s exactly what will be revealed at The Game Awards 2025!

Rumor has it that it could be a spin-off set in the Warhammer 40K or Star Wars universe. One thing is certain: strategy fans should keep their eyes peeled during the show!

Cyberpunk game from Neon Giant

Swedish studio Neon Giant, known for the sci-fi action RPG The Ascent, has finally announced news about its next game, which is scheduled for release on December 12.

The new project is said to be “extremely ambitious” and will feature a cyberpunk game world in UE5 that “can react dynamically to the player’s actions.” This time, however, the game will be played from a first-person perspective.

Resident Evil Requiem

You can also expect news in the horror genre. Under the title Resident Evil Requiem, Capcom will provide a “terrifying new insight.”

The teaser talks about “returning to Raccoon City one last time.” It’s also already known what will probably be shown (spoiler alert) …

New Divinity

What’s going on with the demonic statue that Geoff Keighley recently unveiled? A new God of War, a connection to Diablo, and a new title from FromSoftware have already been ruled out.

So, should we just wait until the show? No: the truth has already come to light! Concrete clues point to a new installment in the popular Divinity series. Could Larian even be involved? It remains exciting for role-playing fans!

Phantom Blade Zero

Another highlight for action fans is Phantom Blade Zero: the action RPG from Chinese studio S-GAME caused a stir when it was first unveiled thanks to its extremely cool combat and dark setting.

At the Game Awards, what many of you have been waiting for will finally be announced: the official release date. It’s safe to assume that this will be accompanied by a new trailer or fresh gameplay footage to help shorten the wait.

Exodus

The sci-fi role-playing game Exodus is also making a comeback. The project, which numerous former Bioware developers are working on, is aiming for a release window in 2026. A new trailer is expected at the awards.

Since the game is backed by veterans who were involved in classics such as Mass Effect, expectations for storytelling and staging are correspondingly high.

Saros

Saros, the new shooter from legendary studio Housemarque, will finally make a new appearance at the Game Awards after a long period of silence.

The studio recently impressed across the board with Returnal – and Saros is following in exactly the same footsteps:

Lego Batman

The Lego gaming franchise is taking an interesting turn: With a new Lego Batman game in the starting blocks, this title stands out from the usual brick-based adventures.
In terms of gameplay, the game is more visually and atmospherically oriented towards Rocksteady games such as Arkham City and Arkham Knight, only in Lego form and with the corresponding humor.

More teasers and rumors

Apart from the confirmed titles, there is of course a lot of speculation again:

  • Hideo Kojima: The Metal Gear creator and close friend of Geoff Keighley is currently in Los Angeles. An appearance is considered very likely. There could be news about Death Stranding 2 (such as a PC port or DLC news) or his Xbox project OD.
  • Diablo: In an interview, when asked about the future of Diablo, a Blizzard developer hinted with a mysterious smile that people should “definitely watch The Game Awards.” What could that mean?
  • Assassin’s Creed 4: A remake of Black Flag has long been considered one of the industry’s worst-kept secrets. So will the new edition finally be officially unveiled at the show? There’s a chance.
  • Wildflower Interactive: Bruce Straley’s newly founded indie studio apparently plans to unveil its debut game during the show. Straley is the former game director behind blockbuster hits such as The Last of Us and Uncharted.
  • Control 2: Rumors have been swirling for some time that Remedy is working on a sequel. A new patent application for Control shortly before the Game Awards is now adding fuel to the fire.
  • Hollywood: With video game adaptations booming, an appearance by well-known actors or the cast of the second season of Fallout is a safe bet.
  • Other possible appearances: Rumors are circulating about Judas from Bioshock creator Ken Levine, Marvel’s Blade from Arkane/Bethesda, Fable, which has been in development for 9 years, and the remake of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. However, there is no concrete evidence as yet.

As every year, the show will traditionally offer a mix of already known games and surprises, starting on Friday morning at 2 a.m.

While we know what to expect from Tomb Raider and Resident Evil, the appeal of the event remains: the hope for that one special trailer that no one saw coming.
