Anniversary update kicks things off – “biggest patch we’ve ever released”
September 4, 2025, is a special date in the calendar for fans of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. To mark the game’s first anniversary, the developers are not only releasing new content, but also the most extensive patch in the game’s history. According to the creators, it is “the biggest patch we’ve ever released” – a promise that is sure to generate excitement.
But the anniversary update is just the beginning. It marks the starting point for a multi-stage content offensive that will continue into the coming year. Players can look forward to free expansions covering everything from new missions and additional maps to fresh enemies and boss battles. Particularly noteworthy is the introduction of a completely new class: the Techmarine, who adds tactical sophistication to the Space Marines’ arsenal.
In addition to the gameplay content, the developers are also revamping the progression system to offer more long-term motivation. With additional weapon variants and a variety of new challenges, every mission should feel even more varied.
Season Pass, cult skins, and community platform – here’s what’s next
The second Season Pass will launch alongside the anniversary patch. Right from the start, players will have access to two special DLCs: the Black Templars Champion Pack and the Imperial Fists Cosmetic Pack. These not only include a brand-new skin for the Bulwark class and a power sword with a fresh look, but also over 40 cosmetic items that celebrate the legacy of legendary orders.
And that’s not all: nine more DLC packs will be released throughout the year. They are dedicated to some of the most iconic factions in the Warhammer universe. These include the Blood Angels, Salamanders, Iron Hands, Raptors, and even the dreaded Carcharodons. Fans can look forward to an ever-growing collection of outfits and symbols that will enhance the visual appeal of their armies.
Another highlight is the introduction of the new platform Focus Together. There, players will not only be able to provide feedback, but also participate in community activities and unlock rewards. This makes it clear that Space Marine 2 not only wants to add more content, but also strengthen its bond with its own player community – and do so in the long term.
