The cyberpunk role-playing game offers DLSS and ray tracing – but currently only on Steam, not on Game Pass. At least one developer is now giving hope.

The Ascent looks really, really good: There are neon lights reflecting in the puddles, there are electric charges crackling across huge machines. Not least thanks to DLSS and ray tracing, the graphics play in the upper league – but unfortunately not all players get to see this. At the moment, both technologies are only available in the Steam version, so those who bought the game on Xbox Game Pass for PC will have to do without. What do the developers have to say about this?

DLSS will be delivered later

This is the current situation: If you own the Steam version of The Ascent, then you should have no problems activating DLSS and ray tracing. In Game Pass, however, these options are missing from the settings – even if your graphics card actually meets all the requirements.

This is what the developers say: On Twitter, the studio Neon Giant has responded to corresponding enquiries from players and indirectly confirmed that certain graphics options are missing in Game Pass. They write:

“We are working with our partners to address this as soon as possible! The two versions are not only different in that they are offered in a different store, but they are also built differently. ”

However, there is no concrete info when the problem will be fixed. And nothing was said about ray tracing. We have sent a corresponding request to the developers ourselves, if we learn more details, we will of course add them accordingly.

There are several other fronts on which the small development team has to fight. Many players complain, for example, about the hacky keyboard controls, mission bugs, bugs with achievements, lags and balancing problems. Nevertheless, the game currently has “mostly positive” reviews at Steam. The international press ratings, meanwhile, are extremely divergent.
