That wasn’t in the patch

As in its predecessors, parkour is a problem child in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. However, some improvements have crept into the latest update.

Actually, update 1.0.4 for Assassin’s Creed Shadows focused on a new quest and the expansion of the codex. On the technical side, only bug fixes and minor usability improvements were mentioned in the patch notes. However, Ubisoft kept one substantial improvement under wraps: the parkour system has also been changed with this update!

We caught you!

Over the years, Ubisoft has simplified parkour in Assassin’s Creed. But in the newer games, this has also made it more unpredictable. Where it used to be possible to navigate precisely to the next point, our assassins now sometimes don’t jump in the direction we actually want them to.

But with update 1.0.4, Ubisoft has tweaked the mechanics a little. This was discovered by YouTuber Ropotopolous Shortly afterwards, Ubisoft officially confirmed this:

The parkour developers simply couldn’t wait, so now it’s easier to move around on rooftops. As you can see in thevideo by YouTuber, there are several small improvements that help with this:

  • It’s now easier to target objects and jump in the direction you want.
  • The game prioritizes jumps where we land on our feet instead of hanging on a wall.
  • We can now push off backwards from a wall

Further improvements will also follow in the next updates, as already announced in the roadmap. Among other things, we will be able to push off backwards even better and jump upwards. Yasuke will also become more agile and able to climb observation towers.

Are you interested in the new quest that came with update 1.0.4? Jesko played it for you, and you can find the video right above. By the way, a second free quest has been announced in the roadmap, which is scheduled for release in June.

Even more missions will be added with the first expansion, The Claws of Awaji, which does not yet have a release date but is likely to be released this summer.
