The big WoW competitor Tarisland has been released. We explain whether the game could be worthwhile for you in our article

On June 21, 2024, Chinese publishing giant Tencent released its new MMORPG, Tarisland. Expectations for the game are high, but who is this new online role-playing game aimed at and what does it actually offer?

Our colleagues from MeinMMO have been following the game extensively over the past few weeksand tell you who should definitely play it. We summarize their most important findings for you

What is Tarisland? And who is Tarisland suitable for?

PvE fans and group play:Tarisland places great emphasis on PvE content such as quests, dungeons and raids. If you love mastering challenges together with other players and fighting your way through exciting dungeons, you’ve come to the right place.

WoW lovers looking for an alternative: Many elements of Tarisland are strongly reminiscent of World of Warcraft, which is no coincidence. Tencent was obviously inspired by the Blizzard classic. So if you like WoW, Tarisland could be an interesting alternative for you

Free access and crossplay: Tarisland is a Free2Play game that can be played on both PC and mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. This allows you to seamlessly switch between your devices and enjoy a few adventures on the go

Instantiated PvP and fair conditions: For PvP enthusiasts, Tarisland offers instanced areas such as arenas and battlegrounds where participants’ equipment is equalized to ensure fair fights.

If this sounds exactly to your taste, you can download Tarislandvia the game’s official website– the MMO cannot be found on Steam, Epic and Co.

Who could be disappointed?

Sandbox and open-world fans: If you are looking for an MMORPG with a strong focus on sandbox elements or exploration, Tarisland might disappoint you. The game focuses more on instanced content

Lovers of complex stories and immersive quests: The story of Tarisland seems rather generic and the quests follow familiar patterns. If you prefer deep, narratively demanding games, you might miss this

Opponents of free-to-play models: Tarisland uses a free-to-play model with an in-game store, which means that there are different currencies and a real money component. If you are critical of such models, this could be an exclusion criterion

Finally, we would like to point out a special feature of Tarisland:Instead of being able to play directly up to the maximum level, the maximum level and the main story are extended daily. On the first day, you can level up to level 20 and experience the first chapter of the story. This daily limit is intended to prevent players from racing through the content too quickly.
