Stalker 2 has just unveiled its first DLC. Although there is no exact release date yet, there is already a trailer and lots of information about the content.
Stalker 2 is already almost a year and a half old and has already received countless small and large updates. In addition to thousands of bug fixes, there has also been some new content such as weapons and quests to marvel at, but now the developers are taking the next step: the major story expansion Cost of Hope has been announced for summer 2026, and that’s not all.
What do we know so far

There is no exact release date for the DLC yet, but we already know some details about the content and story. There is also a first trailer showing missions and new areas:
Cost of Hope expands Stalker 2 withtwo new areas that have long been covered by thick clouds on the map: the Chornobyl nuclear power plant and the Iron Forest. There is even a gate to the latter in the game, but we can’t open it yet. Accordingly, we don’t yet know what exactly awaits us there. However, the DLC announcement speaks of winding, labyrinthine paths, so the Iron Forest will not be easy to traverse.
In the new areas, we can of course also expect our own hubs, new weapons and equipment as well as a DLC story. The focus is apparently on two old acquaintances, namely the Duty and Freedom factions. While Duty sees the Zone as a threat that must be contained and destroyed at all costs, Freedom sees it as a gift to be explored for the good of mankind.
In Cost of Hopea truce between the factions threatens to break down and Skif gets caught between the fronts. In typical Stalker fashion, things are pretty grim, but the aim is also to ignite a spark of hope. Our decisions should not only change the future of the zone, but also have an impact on the whole world.
The expansion will probably be pretty big: In their press release, the developers talk about dozens of hours of gameplay.
What happens after that?
Cost of Hope is the first, but not the last DLC for Stalker 2. The developers explain that Cost of Hope is the middle chapter of the second trilogy. This consists of the main game of Stalker 2, as well as two major story expansions. We will probably have to wait a while longer for the unveiling of the second expansion, with fans speculating about a return to Limansk. However, an exact release date for Cost of Hope should be announced soon.
