Solasta could be just the game for you if you’ve been enjoying Baldur’s Gate 3 lately. Early Access is coming soon, so we’ll tell you what the game has to offer.

Hardly any other role-playing game can compare to what Baldur’s Gate 3 has achieved. But if you want something that comes close, don’t overlook Solasta 2 this year. Its predecessor was already considered an insider tip, and the next installment takes a few steps forward, especially in terms of technology and staging.

Solasta 2 will be released on March 12 in Early Access
– another thing it has in common with BG3. And like its great role model, the party role-playing game is set to mature for a while before it is finally released, hopefully to great success. This raises the question: How exactly does Early Access differ from the 1.0 release? The team has now answered this question.

What’s included in Early Access

Solasta 2 is taking a very similar route to Baldur’s Gate 3, letting you explore part of the game in Early Access, but by no means all of it. On top of that, the role-playing game will continue to be optimized over the coming months based on fan feedback. To make sure that a round of Solasta 2 is still worthwhile from March onwards, you’ll have plenty to do here.

  • The character editor: Solasta 2 lets you take full advantage of the character generator in Early Access. Unlike in Baldur’s Gate 3 or other role-playing games, in Solasta 2 you create your entire group of heroes right at the beginning. It is still unclear whether the customization options for the appearance of your four heroes will be available right from the start or not. Incidentally, you can also choose to start the game with four pre-made heroes.
  • Classes:  Like BG3, Solasta 2 uses the official Dungeons & Dragons ruleset, but is set in a different universe. Nevertheless, it includes the classic D&D roles that you know from many other games. All 12 D&D classes are expected to be in the finished game, each with two subclasses (only clerics get three). In Early Access, you can choose from six different classes:
    • Fighter
    • Cleric
    • Mage
    • Rogue
    • Wizard
    • Paladin
  • Multiclassing: Unlike in the previous game, in Solasta 2 you can also choose multiple classes for a character. This feature will already be available in Early Access.
  • Maximum level: In Early Access, you can level up your heroes to a maximum of level 4, but more levels will be added over time. A total of 10 levels are planned for the 1.0 release.
  • Lineages:  In addition to the classes, you have four different lineages to choose from in Early Access that distinguish your heroes. More will be added later. The ones available at the beginning are:
    • Human
    • Elf
    • Dwarf
    • Halfling
  • Playtime:  Early Access covers the first part of the first act of Solasta 2. This means you won’t be able to play the act all the way through to the end. Nevertheless, it should keep you busy for a while. The developers estimate about 10 to 15 hours of playtime for a single playthrough. However, new quests will be added during EA, which will likely increase the playtime.
  • Gameplay:  The game itself will also undergo some changes during Early Access. Even in the playable area, new monsters may be added and certain challenges may change.

Flying is not yet possible in Early Access, and multiplayer will also be added later.

  • How long? Solasta 2 is scheduled to remain in Early Access for a year. However, as always, it may take longer.

We will of course stay on the ball for you and keep a close eye on how Solasta 2 develops. Incidentally, it’s worth mentioning that the role-playing game is certainly worthwhile for fans of Baldur’s Gate 3, but don’t expect a game of the same extremely high standard. Solasta comes from a much smaller studio. However, fans of BG3 can certainly still have fun with it.
