After ages of back and forth, the free-to-play shooter XDefiant finally has an official release date – and it’s very soon

When Ubisoft launched the open beta for XDefiant in April 2023, it hit like a bomb. However, the exact release date of the shooter has always been up in the air. That has now finally changed. We also know what content the free-to-play title will offer at launch.

May comes to an action-packed end

When will the game be released?  After another server stress test lasting several hours in April 2024, XDefiant is finally ready for release, according to Ubisoft. The CoD competitor will be released on May 21, 2024 for PC (via Ubisoft Connect), PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

How much does it cost? Thanks to the free-to-play model, you don’t have to pay any money to play XDefiant. However, there will probably be costs if you want to use certain cosmetic content or Season Passes.

This is the content you can look forward to at launch

Factions:

  • Echelon (Splinter Cell)
  • Phantoms (Ghost Recon)
  • Cleaners (The Division)
  • Libertad (Far Cry)
  • Dedsec (Watch Dogs)
