Hidden clues about a secret project

After the success of Elden Ring: Nightreign , FromSoftware seems to be planning its next big move. While many fans are still enjoying the new content of the acclaimed open-world RPG, all eyes are now on a previously unannounced game that is already taking shape in the background. Initial information suggests that development is already well underway – and that the release could come sooner than expected.

The upcoming The Duskbloods, which is set to be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, has also generated excitement among fans. But while this project has been publicly announced, there are now growing indications that FromSoftware is quietly preparing another game. An internal project name in particular is causing discussion in the scene.

The combination “FMC” has been leaked – and it’s making people sit up and take notice. In the past, FromSoftware has used similar abbreviations with an “F” at the beginning for titles such as Dark Souls Remastered and Armored Core 6. This points to a new game with a clear connection to a well-known franchise. At the same time, there is still plenty of room for speculation: What is behind these three letters?

The timeframe is particularly exciting: according to internal sources, development is already so far advanced that a release could be possible as early as next year. That would be a real bombshell – especially at a time when many studios are going through long development cycles.

FMC: What’s really behind it?

The mysterious code name “FMC” is causing speculation among fans. A newDark Souls is considered rather unlikely, as series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has repeatedly emphasized that the series is complete. Armored Core also does not seem to be a focus at the moment, following the release of the sixth installment in 2023. Nevertheless, a spin-off or reinterpretation would be conceivable – as FromSoftware has often done in the past.

Another obvious candidate is Bloodborne. The dark action RPG from 2015 remains one of the studio’s most popular works to date. The community has repeatedly and loudly expressed its desire for a remaster for modern consoles. Could FMC actually be a hint at a new Bloodborne project? Nothing has been officially confirmed – but hope lives on.
p>Also not out of the question: a completely new brand. FromSoftware proved with Sekiro and Elden Ring that it can deliver strong ideas even when straying from familiar paths. Now that the studio is at the height of its success, it would be the perfect time for a fresh IP with new gameplay approaches and stylistic independence.

One thing is clear: there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes. The signs are mounting that FromSoftware will soon surprise its fans with another highlight – perhaps as early as 2026. If you look closely, you can see a big promise in the small clues: the next masterpiece may already be in the starting blocks.
