How long does it take to play through the new horror game from the creators of Little Nightmares? We played through it and break it down for you.
Fittingly for Friday, February 13, 2026, the new horror game from the creators of Little Nightmares is being released: Reanimal. You can play this creepy fairy tale in local or online co-op, but also all by yourself. Find out if it’s worth a look in my review, which I’ve linked below.
In this article, however, I answer the question: How much playing time is actually in Reanimal?
- How long will Reanimal take me?
- All chapters at a glance
How long will Reanimal take me?
Reanimal is a short game and you can easily get through it in one or two evenings. You can plan on about 4 to 5 hours for the story alone.
If you want to go on a collecting spree, you can add about two hours to that. So if you really want to see and collect everything, expect a playing time of about 6 to 7 hours. In Reanimal, you can collect masks for the two characters, posters with artwork, and other items. The masks are cosmetic, the artwork is nice to look at, but the rest is only interesting if achievements are important to you.
All chapters at a glance
Reanimal has a total of 9 chapters, which are divided into blocks of three by the achievements. To avoid spoilers, I will refrain from giving detailed descriptions of the content and setting of the chapters.
The first three chapters:
- Chapter 1: What a disappointment
- Chapter 2: The wash house
- Chapter 3: After the flood
The middle three chapters:
- Chapter 4: Homeless
- Chapter 5: Fallen into the hole
- Chapter 6: No one is left behind
The last three chapters:
- Chapter 7: The Loot
- Chapter 8: The Guardians
- Chapter 9: Overwhelming Past
By the way: Once you have played through a chapter, you unlock the chapter selection. To do this, you just need to start a new game and then you can choose from the chapters. This also helped me during testing when I encountered bugs or technical problems.
