The calm before the storm: What’s behind the new Ghost

Another potential blockbuster is waiting in the wings for the PS5 – and this time, the path leads deep into the heart of the Japanese island of Hokkaido.Ghost of Yōtei, the official sequel to Ghost of Tsushima promises nothing less than an emotional and visually gripping quest for revenge – told from a new, female perspective.

.

While the setting sets new accents with snowy mountain passes and dense bamboo forests, the gameplay remains true to its predecessor: atmospheric, elegant, deadly. However, the developers of Sucker Punch have not only changed the setting – the game is also more personal in terms of its theme. At the center this time is Atsu, a warrior whose family has been brutally wiped out. Her journey is less of a mission and more of an inner war – with quiet moments between lightning-fast attacks.

The tension in the community is already simmering  and this week is likely to see the first major eruption.

Ghost of Yōtei & State of Play: New weapons, special modes and story unveiled

Sony has officially confirmed: On July 10, 2025 at 23:00 German time there will be a special State of Play edition in the spirit of Ghost of Yōtei. The broadcast will be streamed on both YouTube and Twitch and is likely to reveal some previously top-secret details to fans.

Jason Connell and Nate Fox, the creative minds behind the project, will be there. They will guide you through new gameplay, introduce special weapons and fresh game modes and provide a deeper insight into Atsu’s story – without giving too much away. A short teaser already hints that the combat system has not only been improved, but has also become more tactical.

The release of  Ghost of Yōtei is scheduled for October 2, 2025 – exclusively on PS5. Anyone who liked the first part should keep this Thursday evening free. Because everything indicates that Sucker Punch is planning more than just a sequel.
