The Switch 2 is just the right size to take out on the balcony in summer. But apparently the heat is also getting to the console.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has been on the market for just under a month and is still so popular that it is almost impossible to get hold of. However, there are currently increasing reports that the console may have an overheating problem. However, there are also possible solutions.

The Switch 2 is struggling with the heatwave

Germany is not the only country to have had to contend with a heatwave in recent days. Temperatures are currently rising sharply in many places around the world. Summer is here and is likely to continue for a few more months. The risk of electronic devices overheating is therefore comparatively higher.

Several Nintendo Switch 2 users are struggling with precisely this problem. There is a whole series of posts on Reddit that deal with this issue. Apparently, the problem occurs both in the handheld mode .

Some users simply report that the console gets warm surprisingly quickly and therefore also loses battery life. Others have even experienced crashes and cases where the console has switched off automatically.

There is a lot of discussion in the comments, but overall there is a consensus that the Switch 2 heats up much faster and also gets warmer than the first Switch. This probably also means that the fans are under more strain and can become unpleasantly loud.

GlobalESportNews impression: Our Switch expert Kevin is not affected by the problems, by the way. He has been using the new console very regularly over the past month and has not noticed any noticeable overheating. However, the heat development depends on the respective games.

This is what Nintendo says: The manufacturer itself has not yet commented in detail on the issue, but recommends disconnecting the docking station from the power supply for a while if the problem occurs. If it recurs, the console can also be sent in for repair.

In general, the Switch 2 should be set up so that it gets enough fresh air. It should also help to regularly remove dust, especially from the console’s ventilation openings.
