A Plague Tale has gained a loyal fan base. The two dark medieval fantasy games, Innocence and Requiem, told the story of two siblings fighting for survival in a world ravaged by the plague.
Now, a prequel has been announced, which will not only shed light on new facets of the world, but also feature significantly more action. We have all the information available. Take a look at the first trailer to get in the mood. Fans will be delighted to see a familiar face return.
This is Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
What’s it all about? The story is set 15 years before the events of A Plague Tale: Requiem. Accordingly, there’s a new main character. This time, you’ll take on the role of Sophia, whom fans of the previous game will already be familiar with.
In Resonance, we now experience her backstory as a looter in search of answers. She fights her way through the island of the Minotaur, which is naturally full of puzzles and mazes. Those familiar with Greek mythology will nod their heads and ask themselves: Wait a minute, this isn’t the Middle Ages, is it? In Resonance, the story switches between the Middle Ages and ancient times. The past and present are closely intertwined.
What’s different? The focus of the game will be more on action, although the story will remain central. So you won’t be sneaking around most of the time, but fighting and jumping, parrying and solving light puzzles.
When will Resonance be released? In 2026, but no specific release date has been announced yet.
Where can I play Resonance? The game will be released for PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox X/S. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch, so you only have to pay the subscription price.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is once again being developed by Asobo Studio, with Focus Entertainment still on board as publisher.
