Nintendo is said to have sold more than three million Switch 2 consoles in the first 24 hours after release.
Nintendo’s new Switch 2 console has been available in stores since June 5, 2025. It is Nintendo’s most expensive console to date, and in many cases, gamers will also have to pay more for games than they did for its predecessor.
Nevertheless, Nintendo’s console is said to have sold better than any other in the first 24 hours, according to YouTubers from Nintendo Prime on Xand YouTube.
24 hour launch sales:
I have now heard from 3 independent people that Nintendo has globally shifted over 3 million Switch 2 units. This does not include any additional sales made today or over the upcoming weekend.

In detail:
- Nintendo is said to have sold more than 3 million Switch 2 consoles in the first 24 hours.
- This would significantly beat the previous frontrunner, Sony’s PlayStation 4, with 1 million consoles sold.
But beware:The data is based on statements made bythree independent individuals
According to Nintendo Power, all three are individuals with references. Nintendo has not yet commented on the console’s sales.
This statement is reinforced by reports that the Switch 2 is already sold out at many retailers. It is currently unavailable from Amazon in Germany or directly from Nintendo. Some retailers are accepting pre-orders for the Switch 2, but delivery will not be until August 2025 at the earliest.
Nintendo already announced at the beginning of the year that it expected more Switch 2 sales in the first year than in the first two years of the Switch. Production has been adjusted accordingly by Nintendo to prevent delivery bottlenecks.
Nintendo knocks Sony off the top spot
On November 17, 2013, then-Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Shuhei Yoshida announced on Twitter (now X) that Sony had sold more than one million PlayStation 4 consoles in the first 24 hours.
PS4 has sold through over 1 million units within 24 hours of the launch in North America!!! 😀

This made it the most successful confirmed launch of a console in terms of sales figures to date.
The more than three million Switch 2 consoles sold would far eclipse this record.
If the figures are correct, Nintendo is well on its way to breaking further sales records.
Now we want to hear your opinion. Were you able to get your hands on a Switch 2 at launch, or did you miss out? Feel free to leave us a comment.
