Fallout: New Vegas with 200 mods? That’s nothing new. But someone playing it on their smartphone is.

To this day, Fallout: New Vegas remains the favorite title of many Fallout fans. The Obsidian spin-off also emerged as the winner in our latest poll for the best game in the series. Nowadays, the almost 15-year-old game can not only be played comfortably on the Steam Deck, but also on smartphones, as a Reddit user is now showing.

It runs pretty well

In the Fallout: New Vegas subreddit, KostasGangstarZombie presents a nearly four-minute gameplay video that he recorded on his smartphone. New Vegas runs surprisingly stable at around 30 FPS, even though the Fallout fan has installed over 200 mods:

200+ mods installed and Fallout New Vegas is still running on my phone and quite good in this place

If you’re wondering how this is even possible, Kostas has an answer, but it’s quite complicated

First of all, you need an Android smartphone, preferably with a powerful Snapdragon processor. An app called Winolator then allows you to run Windows on your smartphone. At least the GOG version of Fallout: New Vegas can then be installed and played quite easily if you download additional special drivers.

However, it becomes more difficult if you want to modify the game. According to Kostas, a lot of research and testing was necessary to get New Vegas running stably and without crashes with graphics mods. In addition, it was not possible to rely on practical tools such as Mod Manager. One user aptly comments:

New Vegas players casually dabble in rocket science so they can play more New Vegas.

Kostas has obviously gone to some trouble to be able to play Fallout: New Vegas on his smartphone. Other fans have also impressed us with their enthusiasm for Fallout: one person is so enthusiastic about Fallout 4 that he has now played it for over 13,000 hours.

A technically gifted fan has also recreated the intro to Fallout 3 in Unreal Engine. A dream that doesn’t seem so unlikely after the release of the Oblivion remaster.
