A strong week awaits on Steam: Look forward to strategy, role-playing games and many more exciting titles.
In the third week of July 2025, there’s finally something going on again: Strategy fans can look forward to the return of a legendary castle-building game, role-players to a polished D&D gem – and dozens of other exciting titles are also being released. As always, we present you with an overview of the most exciting Steam releases of the week.
Highlight of the week: Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition
Almost 20 years ago, Stronghold Crusader won the hearts of strategists, and now the fan favorite is back with a complete overhaul. The Definitive Edition not only offers the familiar desert campaigns in contemporary graphics, but also expands the game with brand new content. Eight new unit types and four new AI lords shake up the siege battles, as well as additional historical campaigns and new Sands of Time skirmish trails, which you can even play cooperatively with a friend this time.
The new edition also goes one better technically: there are finally larger maps, comfort functions such as freely selectable skirmish settings and full Steam Workshop support for your own castles and scenarios. Whether you want to compete against 20 computer-controlled castle lords, defend your fortresses in the new co-op mode or simply marvel at your magnificent desert citadel!

The fighting system comes from the experienced beat ’em up studio Arc System Works.
- EDENS ZERO: After Fairy Tail, the next work by Hiro Mashima conquers the PC. Edens Zero is an action-packed JRPG that relives the story of the sci-fi manga of the same name. With the young hero Shiki and his friends, you board the spaceship Edens Zero and travel across vast planets full of mechanical monsters and fantastic locations. The game offers fast-paced real-time battles: you combine combos and special attacks from the various characters to face hordes of enemies and powerful bosses.
- Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream: Fancy an atmospheric mystery adventure? This isometric stealth adventure takes you to the year 1901 in a Copenhagen-like town called Eriksholm. In the role of young Hanna, who is searching for her missing brother, you sneak through picturesque alleyways and dilapidated mansions, always careful to stay in the shadows. - Sector Unknown (Early Access): An ambitious sci-fi role-playing game project by a solo developer. Sector Unknown begins with your dramatic escape from a prisoner transport – stranded on an alien planet, you must fight to survive and eventually capture your own spaceship. From then on, an entire sector is open to you: Explore procedurally generated planets, trade with alien factions and engage in isometric round-robin battles against aliens and space pirates.
- Worship (Early Access): A wonderfully bizarre roguelite for anyone who has always wanted to lead a sinister sect. In Worship, you take on the role of a fanatical cult leader who wants to summon his dark deity through bloody sacrificial rituals and dirty tricks. As in Pikmin, you command your small, loyal hordes of cultists, have them overpower enemies, set traps or sacrifice themselves in an emergency. Up to four players can even plunge the world into chaos together in co-op.
- Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Magia Exedra: The dark anime Madoka Magica makes its Steam debut. Magia Exedra is a Free2Play RPG based on the successful mobile gacha, now also on PC with cross-progression. You join Madoka, Homura & Co. in turn-based battles against nightmarish witches and collect dozens of well-known magical girls from the anime universe.

Each mission sends your squad of elite soldiers to global locations to investigate mysterious abduction cases, eliminate alien bases and uncover the invaders’ true plans. But you also have to make strategic decisions around the battlefield: Who do you recruit and develop? Which technologies should you research first?

- Neon Abyss 2 (Early Access): The roguelite shooter Neon Abyss enters its second round and this time adds a scoop of chaos on top. The main new feature is the 4-player co-op mode: you and your friends shoot your way through procedurally generated levels full of wild gods. Neon Abyss 2 remains true to its predecessor when it comes to absurdly many items and weapons – countless insane item combos enable overpowered builds that make every run unique.
- DREADZONE (Early Access): This survival adventure sends you into a sealed-off restricted area reminiscent of the radioactive worlds of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. As a lone survivor, you roam through ruined cities and contaminated forests within the Dreadzone, always on the lookout for essential resources. Dreadzone places great emphasis on realism: hunger, thirst, radiation – everything needs to be taken into account as you build your camp and assemble weapons and equipment. But the environment is unforgiving: mutated animals hunt you down and merciless gangs of mercenaries defend their territory.
- The Drifter: A gripping thriller with a retro look for adventure fans. The Drifter presents itself as a classic point-and-click adventure game with beautiful pixel graphics, but tells a surprisingly dark and adult story: After years, drifter Mick Carter returns to his hometown – only to witness a brutal murder and shortly afterwards become the next victim himself. But instead of staying dead, Mick finds himself with mysterious new abilities and must uncover the background to a far-reaching conspiracy.
- He is Coming (Early Access): This retro roguelike looks like it’s straight out of the MS-DOS era – and it’s merciless. You control a single hero who you equip with found weapons, armor pieces and artifacts between boss battles. Every three game days, a new – random – boss opponent will appear and you’ll need to customize your equipment to counter their special abilities. As soon as the fight begins, your character fights automatically, so your build decides.
- RoboCop: Rogue City – Unfinished Business (Standalone DLC): In this standalone expansion to RoboCop: Rogue City, you once again slip into the steel suit of Alex Murphy to eliminate a new threat after the events of the main game. A brutal group of mercenaries has occupied the OmniTower and declared war on the city – time for RoboCop to settle the score.
- The Karters 2: Turbo Charged (Early Access): Mario Kart and Crash Team Racing get competition on the PC. The Karters 2 is a colorful fun racer that is clearly inspired by the genre greats – including drift boosts, nasty power-ups and wacky racers. At the Early Access launch, 16 tracks are available (from tropical island tracks to futuristic city courses) and several game modes such as Grand Prix, Battle Arena and a team vs team mode. You can race with friends locally in split screen or compete online in ranked races. Particularly exciting: thanks to Steam Workshop support, you can already create your own tournaments and even mods. Two major features are still missing at launch (a story campaign and a track editor) – these will be added before the full release.
- Dust Raiders: For all those for whom Mad Max was still too tame! Dust Raiders is a post-apocalyptic real-time tactics game in which you fight for survival with your armed convoy. You start with a rickety vehicle and a handful of crew in a wasteland ravaged by sandstorms. From there on, it’s all about upgrades! You equip your vehicles with flamethrowers, shotguns and ram-like bumpers, hire survivors with special abilities and go from being the hunted to the hunter. The battles take place in real time, but you can pause at any time to position your convoy in a tactically clever way – because the raider gangs that attack you at every turn are merciless.
- The Necromancer’s Tale: Dark, narrative, complex – this gothic RPG is perhaps a real insider tip for story enthusiasts. The Necromancer’s Tale transports you to 18th century Italy and lets you lead a dark double life: During the day you pursue a bourgeois profession and cultivate relationships in the city, but at night you practice forbidden necromancy in secret. The dialog and decision-making system is reminiscent of Disco Elysium: each of your actions influences how much the citizens trust you and how high the general tension in the city is – if you let too many corpses disappear, rumors will soon be doing the rounds. At the same time, you gradually build up an army of the dead, which you can command in tactical turn-based battles à la Baldur’s Gate 3.

- BLACK STIGMA (Early Access): Overwatch fans take note: Here comes a fast-paced hero shooter from South Korea. Black Stigma focuses on fast-paced 5v5 battles in which each hero has unique abilities – from female snipers with hologram camouflage to tech ninjas with a swarm of drones. The trademark of the game, however, is your personal handgun: instead of a fixed loadout, you customize your pistol exactly to your liking. Different barrels, grips, ammunition types and attachment modules allow hundreds of combinations so that your revolver matches your style of play.
- Shadow Labyrinth: What if Pac-Man was suddenly a gritty sci-fi action game? Shadow Labyrinth takes the basic idea of the yellow pill eater and turns it into a 2D action platformer with a story mode. You take on the role of a
sword fighter
who has to battle AI beings in a digital labyrinth. Instead of points, you collect energy capsules that increase your abilities, and instead of ghosts, mechanical monstrosities chase you.

- Little Fighter 2 Remastered: Children of the 90s may remember: Little Fighter 2 was once the secret fighting game at every LAN party with classmates. Now the cult brawler returns in a modernized remastered version. Up to 8 players simultaneously fight their way through hordes of opponents or against each other on one screen, with dozens of wacky characters – from kung fu fighters to ice mages and knights. The remastered version slightly polishes up the pixel graphics and above all provides technical improvements: buttery-smooth 60 FPS, better controller support and online game modes so that you no longer all have to sit in front of one screen (local multiplayer is still fully supported!).
After a rather low tide in recent weeks, we are now being spoiled with new releases. And it looks like things will continue to be exciting: next week, the next co-op shooter, Killing Floor 3, is already in the starting blocks, and the Souls-like Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is also casting its dark shadow ahead. Stay tuned – we hope you enjoy playing!
