The Roman Empire is calling for new leaders:The creators of the small building gameKingdoms and Castlesare back with Nova Roma and send you back to antiquity. As the leader of a small group of citizens, it’s up to you to build a completely new metropolis after the collapse of the old empire, ideally one that far eclipses the splendor of days gone by.
Water is your most powerful tool:One of the most exciting innovations in the genre is the highly complex hydrodynamics, as you have to actively reshape the terrain to keep your settlement alive at all.
You build huge dams, construct aqueducts and divert rivers, which has a significant impact on the supply of drinking water and the fertility of your fields. But nature strikes back relentlessly, as the integrated weather system simulatesdroughts as well as floods, which can wipe out your hard work within minutes if you haven’t planned your infrastructure wisely.
Complex chains of goods also challenge your logistical skills:As your settlement grows, the demands of your citizens increase exponentially, drawing you into an intricate network of supply chains. You have to transport resources over long distances, train craftsmen and produce goods such as wine, bread and ceramics to keep your hard-working inhabitants happy.
