It’s summer slump on Steam – but a mecha shooter anticipated by millions could now dominate everything. We show you the few highlights of the week.
While meteorologists are predicting a record heatwave for the beginning of July, the summer drought is also making itself felt on Steam. Many publishers are holding back their major releases, and the list of noteworthy new releases is shockingly short this time around.
But the release calendar isn’t completely empty after all – and luckily there is a real beacon of hope that is guaranteed to have huge player numbers on release. Like every Monday, we’ll show you which games are making their way onto Steam this heat.
Highlight of the week: Mecha Break
(Genre: Online shooter – Developer: Amazing Seasun Games – Release: July 2, 2025 (Steam))
When the open beta of Mecha Break ran in the summer of 2024, the shooter recorded over 300,000 concurrent players, one million Steam wishlists and almost 2.8 million worldwide registrations – figures that make it clear just how hot the community is for this game. Now, almost a year later, these figures are likely to be even higher – and the go-ahead has finally been given for the release.
In the free2play team shooter, you control powerful combat robots in fast-paced 3v3 and 6v6 battles, either on the ground or in the air. Each mech type has its own abilities, weapons and evasive maneuvers, as well as numerous optics and gameplay upgrades through unlockable items.
Mecha Break launches as a Free2Play title on Steam and its heated mech battles should ensure that boredom doesn’t set in during the summer doldrums.

With each victory, your arsenal of abilities grows, allowing you to delve even deeper into the mysterious underwater world.
- Rekindled Trails: In this cozy fantasy adventure, you travel through the land of Aurteris as a wandering merchant, accompanied by a mysterious flame, in order to regain your salvation. You collect resources, rebuild ruined villages and have to cleverly puzzle your limited inventory to complete missions.

- Aura Kingdom: Impact: An MMORPG classic returns with a new look. Aura Kingdom: Impact brings the colorful anime online role-playing game back to Steam as a global version. A new hero type expands the selection, weapon changes are now possible at any time and you can further improve your loyal companions, the Eidolons, with a new system.
You can already see: There’s not much to get on Steam this week – and a look ahead to next week doesn’t reveal any improvement. The summer slump strikes mercilessly!
But hang in there, because there are already some potential highlights on the horizon: Killing Floor 3 promises co-op action, the dark Wuchang: Fallen Feathers could delight Soulslike fans – and a new Mafia game will also be released in around a month’s time.
It’s getting better again. Until then: look for shadows, chill your drinks – and maybe even take a mech for a spin or two.
