X-Men ’97 starts on March 20, 2024 on Disney Plus. Now, just one week before release, series creator Beau DeMayo has been fired. Nobody knows why yet

The launch of a new Marvel series has just been overshadowed by an unusual incident: Disney has parted ways with Beau DeMayo with immediate effect, whose animated project X-Men ’97 will start on Disney Plus on March 20, 2024.

Suddenly kicked out shortly before the start of the series

In the course of this, of course, DeMayo’s business email accounts were blocked. But not only that: His private social media channels were also deleted. For example,Instagram DeMayo had regularly kept fans up to date with updates on X-Men ’97.

Why Disney kicked DeMayo out as series creator, writer and producer and what led to the deletion of his internet presence is currently unknown. Major media outlets such as The Hollywood Reporter are still awaiting statements from Disney and Marvel Studios or from DeMayo himself.

According to the current status, the release of X-Men ’97 will not change: The series is still expected to be released on Disney Plus on March 20, 2024. Recently, DeMayo was still discussing ideas for a possible second and third season with Disney.

In addition, DeMayo had worked on Moon Knight and had written a first draft for the Blade movie with Mahershala Ali . The established insider CanWeGetSomeToast learned that there were reportedly problems behind the scenes of X-Men ’97 and that his ideas for Blade were met with rejection.

DeMayo has not only previously worked on Marvel productions, but was also involved in the Netflix series The Witcher, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and short films for League of Legends, among others.
