How do Battle Pass and Shop work?
The free Battle Pass in Unbound goes by the series-typical name Speedpass and will have 75 stages on which you can unlock cosmetic items such as outfits, effects, neon lights, stickers and a modified Dodge Viper SRT. You do this by earning XP through various races in Lakeshore City. If you are unable to complete the 75 levels by the end of the season, the remaining bonuses will expire.
Also new is the Ingame Shop, where you can buy new, fancy designs for cars already included in the base game for real money. So there are no direct gameplay advantages, because the items in the shop are purely cosmetic. However, the purchases there grant you a level boost of up to 10 levels for the Speedpass.
What else is new in NfS Unbound Volume 3?
Another innovation are the so-called Linkup Events These are co-op missions for 16 players that are supposed to be available every four to six minutes at random locations on the map. During these linkups, special challenges have to be mastered, such as driving through a certain number of speed cameras. In this way, the Linkups are strongly reminiscent of the arcade events known from Forza Horizon 5.
Of course, Volume 3 also has a new vehicle in store for you: The legendary DMC DeLorean 1981, known from the Back to the Future movies. You can unlock the car by completing 12 of the new Linkup missions. The car is not necessarily the fastest car in the game, but you can drive the DeLorean in style without a doubt.
New is also a chat wheel for the multiplayer, with which you can react to your fellow players with emotes or short answers, for example, if you don’t want to participate in the voice chat.
Need for Speed Unbound Volume 3 will be released for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 20 June 2023. However, your previous progress from the multiplayer will be reset. If you were already on level 99, for example, you will have to start all over again after the update.
