A modder is currently working on a major project to completely translate Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind into the Elden Ring engine.
An open game world like in Elder Scrolls, but with the precise combat system of a FromSoftware game? This is apparently the dream of many role-players, and one man now wants to make it come true.
Currently, the well-known Souls modder InfernoPlus is working on an impressive total conversion that will transform Elden Ring into The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind.
But these aren’t just the ambitious dreams of an Elder Scrolls fan plagued by feverish dreams. As Inferno shows in an in-depth video on YouTube, the project is already bearing some pretty impressive fruit:
It is within the realm of possibility
So far, the modder has been working on the project largely on his own and has made visible progress in recent months. In the video, InfernoPlus demonstrates that basically the entire game world of Morrowind already exists in the Elden Ring engine.
He roamed large parts of the world, took a look around the well-known coastal town of Seyda Neen, made a detour to Balmora, climbed the Red Mountain, and showed the outskirts of the big city of Vivec.
According to the modder, many interiors are also already complete and accessible.
The modder has not only roughly mapped out the world, but also reworked small details. And he shows his first efforts to make quests experienceable:
- The legendary waters of Morrowind have been completely modernized.
- Swamps can cause a poisoning effect.
- Dialogues have been transferred, albeit in a completely chaotic form.
- Each region of the world is characterized by different weather conditions.
However, many areas still need work. NPCs in particular are far from finished. Their pathfinding doesn’t work properly, and every single NPC in the world is either the same woman or a goat. The modder also needs external help for some things, such as 3D models for armor and creatures.
In any case, the mod is supposed to feel like a mixture of Morrowind and Elden Ring. This means that the modder is planning to include extensive boss fights, for which he first has to build suitable areas. It sounds like a lot, but the modder considers this roadmap to be realistic – if people want the “remake.”
People want
At least in the comments below the video, people’s response is very clear. People are clearly really excited about this mod! The top comment says it all:
Holy s***, this is exactly what the world needed. I remember playing Dark Souls shortly after Skyrim (14 years ago – oh my God, when did I get so old?) and thinking: “I wish the animations in Skyrim looked like this.” However, I never would have dreamed that it would be Morrowind.
People are particularly amazed that the modder has managed to complete the project without any help so far. By comparison, several modders have been working simultaneously on a remake of Morrowind in the Skyrim engine for years.
But whether the project is really as feasible as InfernoPlus claims remains to be seen. After all, he even wants to add voiceovers to the dialogues – that sounds more than ambitious.
