The upcoming graphics card generations are reportedly facing significant delays: A YouTuber reports massive postponements for Nvidia’s RTX 60 and AMD’s RDNA 5.
The arrival of the next GPU generations will probably take longer than originally expected. Tech YouTuber “RedGamingTech,” who recently reported on a postponement of the RTX 60 series to CES 2027, quickly relativized his information.
Instead, we will have to be patient a little longer – and not just with Nvidia. AMD’s upcoming graphics cards are also expected to hit the market at a later date. As has often been the case in recent days, the cause can be found in the ongoing memory crisis.
Rubin and RDNA 5 to be released much later
According to RedGamingTech, the RTX 60 series is to be postponed even further – more specifically, we will not see the new Nvidia graphics cards until the second half of 2027 at the earliest. A further delay until CES 2028 is also conceivable, which would mean that the Rubin series would be launched three years after the current Blackwell generation.
AMD’s next GPU generation will therefore also arrive much later than hoped. The RDNA 5 generation was previously expected in the second half of 2026. According to reports from RedGamingTech, the new hardware will now only be unveiled at Computex 2027 and will be available in June at the earliest.
The main reason for these massive shifts is a global memory crisis. Those who cannot obtain sufficient RAM cannot launch new hardware – and it is precisely this problem that is currently forcing manufacturers to take drastic measures.
- The cause lies in panic buying in the professional segment. OEM PC manufacturers have currently stocked up massively on memory because they fear a serious supply crisis in 2026.
- OpenAI and other AI companies are estimated to claim 40 percent of global DRAM production for themselves, which in turn is leading to panic buying and empty warehouses.
According to RedGamingTech, there are internal complaints about a striking unpredictability in all scheduling for new GPU generations. Every manufacturer is trying to fill its warehouses with memory – and otherwise remains silent about possible problems and delays.
