Nintendo has revealed the next Mario Kart. We have all the exciting gameplay info for you.

The next Mario Kart has an official name: Mario Kart World will race across your screen just in time for the launch of Nintendo Switch 2.

The biggest new feature: Mario Kart is getting an open world ! That alone is something to take in, but we have even more exciting new features for you. To sum up, the new Mario Kart is strikingly reminiscent of Forza Horizon.

Mario Kart in a whole new dimension

Instead of just driving around individual race tracks over and over again, Mario Kart World features the entire Mushroom Kingdom , including various biomes such as a canyon, green grasslands and a coastal region with a city. You can even drive on the sea thanks to special water karts!

Also of interest: There are different times of day and even weather changes Both should have a noticeable effect on the game world and the driving behavior of the karts.

Because yes, of course, not much will change at the core of the game: Mario Kart World is still about fun and chaotic battles with your friends or against players from all over the world.

We were also shown a new mode: the so-called Knockout Tour, which takes you across the open world, through different biomes on a very long track. The route is divided into individual stages, which are closed off by checkpoints. The last one to pass through the checkpoint is eliminated from the race.

So, what are your first impressions of Mario Kart World? What do you think of the new graphics? And how do you like the idea of simply driving off the race tracks through the new open world? What other features would you like to see?

By the way: On April 17, 2025, there will be another special Nintendo Direct that will focus specifically on Mario Kart World. So we’ll learn more news then.
