Is this an offer we can’t refuse? Hangar 13 and publisher 2K have just released a new trailer for Mafia: The Old Country that answers several questions at once.We now know what the gameplay looks like, when the game will be released, and how much it will cost us.

So let’s not beat around the bush, let’s straighten our ties, roll up our sleeves, and pay the family a visit in Sicily.

The trailer, featuring the new gameplay, can be viewed directly above this article.

Release date and price revealed

Mafia: The Old Country will be released on August 8, 2025. So we only have to wait exactly three months before we can once again voluntarily immerse ourselves in the brutal machinations of organized crime. The summer release date was clear from the start, but now we know for sure.

More surprising is the price, which is now also no longer a secret. Mafia: The Old Country will be released in two editions, a standard edition and a slightly more substantial one:

  • “Lupara” pendant

No open world

Sure, 50 euros isn’t a bargain, but it’s no longer the standard price for a full-price game from a well-known series and a major publisher. We would have expected 60 or even 70 euros in advance. But then we also thought that Mafia: The Old Country would get another open world.

However, a FAQ has now been posted on the game’s website, stating that the latest installment will be the first in the seriesnot to feature an open world It will be a completely linear story-driven game with a focus on action.

The trailer reveals more about the gameplay

As expected, apart from some intense shootouts, the gameplay also features a lot of close combat, in which antihero Enzo takes on his enemies with a knife. But he can apparently throw it too, or use it from ambush during various stealth passages. The reason for the focus on close combat is also the setting, as we find ourselves in a time and place where firearms were not a matter of course.

Another nice detail is the destructible objects. Apparently, the various level areas are packed with all kinds of items that break when hit by bullets and can also set nearby enemies on fire.

Apart from the shooting, we see a lot of car chases. Both in cars and on horseback, which was also known beforehand and has the same reasons as the limited weapon selection.
