More and more athletes, musicians and other celebrities are getting involved with esports, starting or joining teams. Now Usain Bolt is one of them.

Barely a day goes by without a celebrity starting or joining a new esports team. Now the fastest man in the world is jumping on the bandwagon and joining WYLDE.

Sprinter and gamer

Former world record sprinter Usain Bolt has announced via Twitter that he is joining esports team WYLDE. In his message, the Jamaican said it was time for the fastest man in the world to join the fastest growing sport.

The currently still quite small Irish eSports team is mainly active in Rocket League, but also plays Rainbow Six Siege with a predominantly German team. FIFA and VALORANT are also part of the clan’s repertoire. On Twitter, WYLDE announced the news and welcomed Bolt as a new co-owner of the organisation.

In good company

More and more celebrities are jumping on the esports bandwagon. Just recently, rapper Snoop Dogg joined the FaZe clan. From exceptional athletes like Shaquille O’Neal or Michael Jordan to musicians like Drake or Steve Aoki, everyone wants a piece of the ever-growing pie.

Not least thanks to dreamlike growth forecasts in the gaming scene, it seems as if esports are stepping out of the shadows and gaining more and more recognition and popularity. Esports tournaments that were held in stuffy gyms 15 years ago are now played on an international stage in front of thousands of spectators and live broadcasts.
