Roguelike, Deckbuilding, and Dark Fantasy? Inscryption players like to say yes to this and think it’s great. Yet at first glance it might remain unclear what Inscryption is about at all. Even the trailer is rather nebulous.

We’re happy to help: In Inscryption you create a deck of cards with which you compete against AI opponents in turn-based battles. You get cards in sometimes grotesque ways, for example through surgery or self-mutilation. This is how you get squirrels, birds and other forest creatures for your deck, which then fight for you. Escape room-style puzzles are also included. In addition, you can uncover dark secrets that are hidden behind the cards.

The unusual mix was released on Steam and GOG on 19 October 2021 and has been really well received: With 95 per cent positive player reviews, Inscryption is currently thrilling its over 2,000 reviewers on Steam.
