Friendships often form when people play games together. But one Steam user’s friendship ended without warning.

Games are great and bring a lot of joy to all of us. But the best part is when we can share our experiences, successes, and opinions with others. In short, friends make our hobby better. That’s why it’s naturally hard when you lose a particularly good gaming buddy.

Disappeared without a trace

A Reddit user named CarefulPackage6872 reports his loss in a post in r/pcgaming. Here is a short version of his story on:

I met InfinityFuse in 2022 through a friend. His favorite dogs are corgis, and they were his profile picture for everything. […] The three of us played almost every day after work or whenever we had some free time. For two whole years, we were in voice chats and played every new game or tried out any Steam games.
He even drove to my state to visit us. We had some deep conversations about the meaning of life. I tried to cheer him up, but he seemed down.

Despite the bitter farewell, CarefulPackage doesn’t seem to hold a grudge: he just hopes to hear from his friend one day and find out how he’s doing and whether he’s found his purpose in life. Fuse should know that he loved him like a brother and that he is greatly missed by his group of friends.

According to CarefulPackage, however, the Reddit post is his last attempt to make contact. Finally, he addresses his lost friend directly:

Fuse, if you ever see this, I hope you are enjoying your life to the fullest and are blessed and content beyond measure. I want you to know, brother, that I think of you every time I see a corgi, and I’m pretty sure that will never change.

After all this time, the chances of the two friends seeing each other again are probably not very good. It looks like InfinityFuse has decided to make a very radical break from video games and everything that goes with them. In the comments on his post, many other players express their sympathy and compassion for the loss of CarefulPackage.
