“He’s living the dream” – In Skyrim, there’s an NPC who does nothing but sleep all day long.

He’s pretty well hidden and (almost) nothing can disturb his peace. One player has tried to solve the mystery behind him.

Who hasn’t had days like this? Work is annoying, your tax return is sitting accusingly on the kitchen table, and your pollen allergy is blocking your nose. You just want to spend the whole day in bed.

A certain NPC in Skyrim makes this dream come true. Instead of letting the problems of Skyrim get him down, he prefers to sleep all day – and he even has a name.

Not everyone is cut out to slay dragons

Whether for the reasons mentioned above (hypothetical!) or simply out of laziness, the penniless NPC has made himself comfortable in the warehouse of the East Imperial Trading Company.

The tired colleague lies on his sleeping bag next to stacked crates and shelves, and he is the only dock worker with a name: Snorreid. If you don’t want to download Skyrim for the 58th time to see him, Youtuber Mike can help:

What makes Snorreid special is that, unlike most other NPCs, he doesn’t follow a proper daily routine. He never gets up to walk around or talk to others. He doesn’t even move when you talk to him. Instead, he lies there unconcerned and repeats a single sentence: “You shouldn’t be here.”

But there is one way to lure him out of his shell: fight. When attacked, he scrambles to his feet, only to lose his life after a few blows. However, it’s not worth looting his dead body or taking advantage of his lethargic nature, as his pockets are empty.

In the comments below the YouTube video, this curious discovery is taken with humor:

  • “His name is Snorreid. And he’s asleep. Great cinema.” – arifhossain9751
  • “Imagine you’re so lazy that a guy just walks up to you and makes a documentary about you.” – hundvd_7
  • “Finally, a video game character I can relate to.” – nightterror6727
  • “Seriously? Bro, he’s living the dream.” Thebdippy
  • “Maybe he’s dreaming up an entire gaming universe in his sleep. Better not wake him up, Mr. Mike.” – Leto85
  • “I’ve played this quest so many times, and somehow I’ve never noticed this guy in the five years I’ve been playing this game. It really amazes me that I’m still learning new things about this game after all these years.” – BrandonP8176

By the way, it’s very possible that you stumbled across Snorreid in your game if you didn’t overlook him. The warehouse is the setting for various quests. For example, the quest “Trade Routes of the East Imperial Trading Company” takes you straight past the sleeper, as the quest item you are looking for is located very close to Snorreid.
