A mysterious statue with a location tag has appeared on the social media channels of The Game Awards and Geoff Keighley. Fans see references to a new God of War, Elder Scrolls… or could it be Half-Life 3?
It’s almost that time again: The Game Awards will take place on December 12, 2025. As always, the event will be hosted by Geoff Keighley. In addition to awards for outstanding games, the show is also known for announcing new projects and showing exclusive trailers.
A mysterious post on the social media channels of The Game Awards and Geoff Keighley is now making many gamers’ mouths water. Could this be a hint at a new God of War or maybe even Half-Life 3? Let’s take a closer look.
A statue stands in the desert, silent and still…
On November 29, Geoff Keighley posted a picture of a statue on his X account (formerly Twitter) with the words “royal.inspiring.thick.” In addition, the official Game Awards account posted a map with a marker in Joshua Tree National Park in California:

The statue depicts a wide variety of creatures—undead, bears, crocodiles, humans in armor—twisting around a gate with screaming grimaces, at the top of which sits an eye-like growth with tendrils.
It doesn’t take long before the first X users visit the village and take a closer look at the statue. Triodug, for example, has discovered that he lives only 15 minutes away. He documents his little excursion on his profile and shows the mysterious statue from all angles:

He also notes: “The employees on site were all quite reserved [when asked] about what this is all about.”
God of War? Elder Scrolls? Or Half-Life 3 after all?
The community has been buzzing since the post: Fans are analyzing the statue very closely. Many see it as a hint at a possible announcement of a new God of War. One of the characters on the statue wears armor similar to Kratos. The crocodile is also attributed to the game IP. There is also speculation about an Egyptian setting, which could explain the desert.

Of course, the usual Half-Life 3 copium is also a must. After all, the statue is located not far from Yucca MESA Road in California. Some fans even claim to have spotted the Half-Life logo in the twists and turns of the road.
