An Arc Raiders player tells his story on Reddit – and brings back funny memories for many.
“Help me, I’ve been shot!”
If you heard this cry for help from a neighboring hotel room, what would be your first thought?
- Oh, it’s probably just someone playing Arc Raiders.
- Oh my God, someone needs help!
When players break out of their usual gaming environment and play in public places, misunderstandings can easily arise. Option 2 was the reaction of other hotel guests to an Arc Raiders player who was actually just mourning his loot. And oops, the police were already at the door.
“I’ve been shot!”
This story is shared by user YoMopho on Reddit. In it, he explains that he is currently staying at a motel due to personal circumstances. With him: his PlayStation 5 and Arc Raiders:
[…] I was on the Blue Gate map and had the run of my life. I had looted two Wolfpack [grenades, editor’s note] and an Osprey [sniper rifle] and teamed up with a few people to take out a Leaper. It was fantastic.
Then, on the way back, I got run over by a Rocketeer because I was in a hurry. And then I screamed, “Help, I’ve been hit, revive me, I’ve been shot! Please, help me get back up!”
[…] I guess that’s when the police were called.
By the way, YoMopho didn’t make it to the extract.
“We had the same problem back in the 2000s!”
The police story has attracted many amused comments on Reddit. For example, this reference to PvP behavior in Arc Raiders, where players shout to each other that they have no malicious intentions:
Sus_scrofa: Did you shout “Don’t shoot!” at the police?
YoMopho (OP): No… I shouted “I’m peaceful!”
ClassicHat: You could have tried “Do you want to join forces?”
However, many users also remember their own stories in which their gaming hobby had to face the real world. User chronicnerv remembers the old Counter-Strike days, for example: “We had this problem back in the late 90s and early 2000s, when Counter-Strike players talked about planting and defusing bombs all the time.”
“Even more unpleasant when you’re playing a drug dealer on a GTA 5 role-playing server,” comments user TheSidecam. “When I was questioned about a year ago, I was shown my Discord messages.”
Cops called on me for playing ARC Raiders.

User User Firm-Ad3970 writes: “I’m ashamed to admit that I once called the police because I heard my neighbor raging. I didn’t know he was gaming and thought he had killed his girlfriend.” Better that than the other way around – many Reddit users agree.
Now it’s your turn! Have you ever experienced strange and funny incidents where your conversations about video games or angry outbursts led to encounters with the police, the principal, or other authorities? Have you had unpleasant discussions with neighbors? Feel free to write about your experiences in the comments!
