Gloomhaven has already been adapted as a computer game, and now its sequel Frosthaven is coming to PC as a turn-based tactical game.

Frosthaven raised almost $13 million during its 2022 Kickstarter campaign. This makes it the most successful board game on the entire platform. These impressive numbers should now be transferred to the PC, with a digital version set to be released this year. You can watch the first trailer right here:

What is Frosthaven?

To understand Frosthaven, we first have to look at Gloomhaven: In the first part of Isaac Childres’ board game series, you and up to three friends play mercenaries traveling through the fantasy world of the same name. Battles are turn-based and fought with card abilities, but you’ll need to get to know the complex mechanics first. Ultimately, you can easily invest 100 hours in Gloomhaven.

After the great success, the leap into the digital world came in 2021: Gloomhaven was implemented as a PC game and is also convincing here: currently, 83 percent of Steam reviews are positive.

In 2022, the next Kickstarter campaign for a board game was launched: Frosthaven was a huge success, giving fans exactly what they wanted: more of the same.

This is exactly what the PC version of Frosthaven should offer.New characters and classes, new tactics, your own outpost and, of course, a fresh story.

Frosthaven is being developed by Snapshot Games, with Arc Games supporting the game as a publisher.

Frosthaven is scheduled to be released in early access this year, but an exact release date has not yet been set. The game will start with 35 quests, but within a year the whole thing should grow to 130 quests. So by then, you’ll have your hands full, just like in the previous game. But before all that begins, a closed beta will start on March 27.
