John Snow gets no break. Game of Thrones: Kingsroad only launched in early access at the end of March and is already set to be released as a finished game on May 21. While players had to pay at least €25 for early access, newcomers will be able to play for free from the day of release.
That’s why the action role-playing game has been repeatedly criticized. It has achieved a meager 63 percent rating on Steam, with reviews mainly criticizing the pricing policy and in-game purchases. In the release trailer, game director Hyunil Jang promises to take the community’s feedback to heart. Whether this will really change anything about the monetization is questionable.
With the final release, cross-play between PC and mobile will also be allowed, and you can transfer your save data from Early Access to the full version. If you’re one of the people who played in Early Access, you’ll also get two exclusive cosmetic items: an outfit and a seal. If you think it’s worth the $25, you can purchase Early Access until May 21.
