Every Thursday, the Steam competitor Epic Games reshuffles the cards and distributes one or more free games. You can get the titles with just one click of the mouse, and they will stay in your library forever. With the free games, Epic aims to keep Steam on its toes when it comes to digital game distribution.

Free game of the week: River City Girls

The anime-style beat ’em up River City Girls is a spin-off of the Japanese fighting game series River City. This time, you play as Kyoko and Misako, the strong female friends of Kunio and Riki, the protagonists of the first game. Because the two unfortunate heroes from the original have been kidnapped!

The girls therefore set out to free them, with all sorts of weapons, special attacks and combos in tow, fighting their way through six districts of River City. You’ll encounter familiar NPCs and learn numerous new skills along the way.

River City Girls can be played solo or in two-player local co-op The story is told through anime sequences and manga panels, alongside the fighting action. The voice acting is only available in English, but all texts have been translated into German.

On Steam, by the way, the game has84 percent positive reviews.
