The former fantasy sensation is not only leaving the store, but also users’ game libraries.

Dark and Darker, also known as Fantasy Tarkov, made headlines twice in 2023. First, when it went through the roof on Steam, then when the legal battle between developer Ironmace and ex-publisher Nexon began.

Nexon accused Ironmace of using parts of a Nexon project for Dark and Darker after the two parties broke ties. After much back and forth, a temporary ban from Steam, followed by a return, it is now another store that is in the spotlight: the Epic Games Store.

Dark and Darker isn’t just disappearing from the store

Three months after Dark and Darker was officially taken off sale, Epic is now taking arare and drastic step further The game is also disappearing from users’ libraries.

As Reddit user Keybump shows in a post, Epic is currently informing players about the upcoming procedure.

On November 1, 2025, Dark and Darker will be removed from all accounts, and from that point on, the game will no longer be playable via Epic. It is also no longer possible to purchase Legend status (30 euros) for the free game, and the same applies to in-game currency.

All players who have purchased Legend status will automatically receive a refund It is common for games to be removed from sale, but they usually remain in players’ libraries.

However, giving players their money back without asking and removing the game completely is a real rarity.

Epic refers in its statement to a court ruling from February 2025. The competent Korean court had not found any copyright infringement, but according to the ruling, Ironmace had violated trade secrets, according to the Korean Times.

However, the company has not revealed exactly what in the ruling prompted Epic to take such extreme measures.

Ironmace must pay Nexon a good $6 million in damages and has accepted the ruling. The publisher, on the other hand, has announced that it will appeal to a higher court.

The status of the Steam version of Dark and Darker is currently unclear. The game is still available there for free, and the Legend status and in-game currency can also be purchased.
