“Just an update?” – No way! Capcom brings a breath of fresh air to the arena.

On August 7, it’s time to get down to business: Capcom is releasing a free update for the Fighting Collection 2 – and it’s got more than just technical improvements in store. The focus is on four new fighters who bring fresh momentum to Street Fighter Alpha 3 UPPER. Veterans already know them well: Maki, Yun, Eagle, and Ingrid are stepping into the ring. Ingrid in particular is causing a stir – she was also recently confirmed for Street Fighter 6.
The goal is clear: the collection should not only feel like a trip down memory lane, but also be fun to play – even during longer sessions. And this is particularly noticeable in multiplayer mode.

Retro meets modern – and doesn’t stand still for a second

The Capcom Fighting Collection 2 brings together cult titles from the golden era of 2D brawlers. From Capcom vs. SNK 2 to Power Stone 2 to Plasma Sword – all games are online-enabled and can be played against each other with butter-smooth gameplay thanks to rollback netcode. Whether in a relaxed duel with friends or in the merciless rankings, the experience remains stable and fast.

Good news: the collection also remains technically versatile. In addition to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch, the compilation runs on all modern consoles via backward compatibility, including Switch 2 and PS5. This makes the collection interesting not only for retro fans, but also for new generations who want to find out why these games once made arcade history.

With this new update, Capcom shows that old classics don’t have to gather dust – as long as you regularly give them a fresh coat of paint and modern features. And that’s exactly what they’ve done here.
